I would like to start by saying that I haven’t been on the orient express today. I wish I had because then I would probably have lots of money and be on holiday and not dealing with the day I have just had.

But I have been on a train. Actually a horrible inner-city commuter tube train.

It was rush hour and it was really busy, smelly and crowded beyond belief. I really hate this but today I had no choice. Usually I work from home but today I had to take a trip into the city because I had to meet prospective new client for who I was going to do some work.

The meeting went really well, but I had an incident on the train on the way home. Basically I was really crushed in and I was carrying my MacBook in my arms, in a case. I thought it was safe but it slipped through my arms in the crush and hit the floor of the train. I didn’t think anything of it until I got home but when I did I found that the screen scratched and cracked.

I’m a bit devastated because I’m in love with my new and expensive laptop. I’ve been furiously googling to find a MacBook Pro retina display replacement service in my area, and have found a couple of places which looked likely. I gave them a call and one said they do have MacBook Pro retina parts in stock, but the trouble is they aren’t that local and I don’t have a car. Luckily, I also found a mac screen repair mail-in service. It seems they will send me a box that I can put my laptop in and send it to them, and then they will fix it and send it back to me. I think this will be the best option since I wont have to go any where to get it fixed.

So I’m sitting in writing this on a MacBook with a cracked screen. Not ideal and it also means I’m a bit stuck if I need to go for a client meeting in the next few days, because it’s my only laptop and I will look hideously unprofessional turning up with a cracked screen on my computer. I will either have to ignore it and let people think I’m some low-budget business person, or I’m going to have to make some sort of joke to point it out and explain it.

Basically today’s been rubbish, I haven’t been on the orient express but I have been on a horrible train and had my computer broken. So it’s feeling a bit like murder on the orient express in my life right now. Is that being melodramatic? Perhaps I just need a glass of wine.
